The Malibu Township Council is exploring the feasibility of creating a local bus service in the wake of the tragic loss of Malibu Middle School student Emily Shane on Pacific Coast Highway at Heathercliff. MTC was inspired by the Shane family’s wish to honor Emily’s memory with ideas that “pay it forward.” Let’s start by creating a safer PCH and safer transportation. In concept, a local bus service would run a continuous loop around Malibu seven days a week, welcoming all riders, catering principally to kids and seniors, stopping at schools, parks, the library, boys and girls club, senior center, shopping malls, beaches, etc.
We propose it be named Emily’s Bus.
There are many issues to be worked out before this idea can become a reality, but the MTC is committed to try its best, and its board is already exploring several avenues. We will be looking for sponsors and help/suggestions of all kinds.
