Actress Makenzie Rosman, from the hit show “7th Heaven,” helped kicked off the first annual 5K Fun Run hosted by School on Wheels, a nonprofit dedicated to the enhancement of educational opportunities for homeless children from kindergarten through 12th grade, at Zuma Beach on Sunday to raise awareness and money for homeless students in Southern California.
Twenty runners participated in the race, including Executive Director and Founder of School on Wheels Agnes Stevens, 72, who said, “Our goal next year is to have a least a hundred runners , and I am going to start training now in running against the wind.”
The event was attended by staff, tutors, friends and family of School on Wheels and raised more than $4,000 that will be used to purchase holiday gifts for more than 600 homeless children in the area.
