Banking on better service

Very recently I received from Washington Mutual Bank a notification that began as follows: “Dear Valued Customer, One of our main goals at Washington Mutual is to offer our customers the best service possible. Sometimes we find that to do that effectively, we need to improve our facilities. This is the case for our Malibu-Cross Creek Financial Center, located at 3825 Cross Creek Road in Malibu, which will permanently close and relocate to an existing Washington Mutual location later this year.” (I assume they mean the Heathercliff site.) The letter goes on to advise that I need to empty the contents of my safe deposit box by March 22.

In my wildest excursions of fantasy, I cannot possibly find reason to explain this move as an improvement in facilities and in service to me and the other customers served by the Cross Creek branch. So I say: thanks heaps, Washington Mutual. Thanks for nothing.
