Every time I pass glue traps in a store, I want to remind people that they are one of the most cruel instruments ever devised by man. They cause the animals they catch enormous suffering. One girl wrote to us here at PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) that when she opened a kitchen drawer at her grandfather’s house she was horrified to see a mother mouse mired in glue, trying to wipe the glue from her eyes and at the same time, having babies in it.
Many places sell humane catch-and-release, reusable live traps and we urge people to have a heart and use them. (You can also order one from PETA at (800) 483-4366.) Then seal up all small openings in your home through which rodents are likely to enter
Also, oil of peppermint on cotton balls will keep many rodents at bay.
