Richard Stewart, 57, a 30-year resident of Malibu, died suddenly from a heart attack on May 3.

Stewart was born Nov. 2, 1945 in Hartford, Conn., and moved to California in 1956. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley. His career was spent in sales. Stewart eventually became a manager and then owned a business. He also has a multitude of sales awards.

Stewart was a mentor to many people throughout his life. He touched everyone who knew him and was sincerely interested in everyone as an individual. When not working, he loved playing tennis, basketball and playing with his grandson, Dylan.

His relatives say Stewart was a very caring and loving person… “and it’s like they say, ‘The good die young.'”

Stewart is survived by his mother Theresa, brother Bob, son Michael, daughter-in-law Amy, grandson Dylan, sister-in-law Barbara and three nieces, Michelle, Kim and Sara.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Athletes and Entertainers for Kids at 1.800.933.KIDS, or the American Heart Association.

A memorial service will take place May 17, 1 p.m., at St. Monica Parish, 725 California Ave., Santa Monica.
