Southern California nonprofit A Walk On Water (AWOW) held a benefit on Friday, Feb. 3, at Casa Escobar. Visitors enjoyed food and drink, plus performances by local musicians and artwork from local artisans. Ten percent of proceeds went toward the surf therapy group AWOW.

A Walk On Water works with special needs children and their families to provide them with therapeutic surf experiences and open up a love of surfing, the ocean and the outdoors. Now based in Santa Barbara, AWOW was founded following the first Annual Surfers Healing Pat Notaro Day at Surfrider Beach nearly 17 years ago, by Pat Notaro III.

Friday’s event included performances by Gaby Forte, Neriah Fisher, Alli Cunningham, Lenny Goldsmith, Timmy Thames and Sofia Castellani, as well as art from Samantha Chapman, Daniela Schweitzer, Eamon Harrington, Kandy Lozano, Lisa Semler, Tova Malibu, Chris Williamson and The Malibu Times’ own Emily Scher.
