Rod Bergen of the Malibu Chamber of Commerce speaks with those gathered at Caffe Luxxe Wednesday.

The Malibu Chamber of Commerce and The Malibu Times co-hosted Coffee With A Cop on Wednesday, June 7 at the newly opened Caffe Luxxe. The one-hour event served as a chance for Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station officials, including newly appointed head of the station, Captain Josh Thai, to meet and greet members of the Malibu community. Gary Chau, founder of Caffe Luxxe, provided free coffee and a venue for the casual morning meetup. Rod Bergen of the Chamber of Commerce also briefly spoke to welcome the community to the event.

Fireball Tim Lawrence was on hand with a collection of historic vehicles, including classic police cars.

The Coffee With A Cop concept began in Hawthorne, Calif. in 2011 and has sprung up around the country as a way for communities to create personal bonds with law enforcement. More information is available at coffeewithacop.com.
