Robert “Bob” Forest Pettitt died Aug. 8, 2006 at his home in Malibu. He was 86. Born in Los Angeles, Pettitt rose to the rank of lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy. He flew more than 100 missions as a fighter pilot in the South Pacific during World War II.
Pettitt owned and operated Scott E. Campbell Fire Sprinkler Co., and was heavily involved in the fire sprinkler industry.
Pettitt is survived by his wife Harriet; children Lucy Tralla, Mary De Young, R. Scott Pettitt and Linda Pettitt, their spouses; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services take place on Wednesday Aug. 16 at Holy Cross Cemetery, located at 5835 West Slauson Ave. in Culver City. It begins at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Pettitt’s name to a person’s favorite charity.
