Tough tournament

The Malibu High School girls’ varsity basketball team competed in the Slam Jam at Van Nuys basketball tournament at Van Nuys High School. The lady Sharks, with only seven players, were defeated in both games.

Malibu first lost to Providence (to whom they had lost two weeks ago in double overtime) with a final score of 22-34, the Sharks’ lowest team score of the season. Co-captain Domo Magee led in scoring with 11 points. The Sharks then faced a stronger and faster team from North Hollywood, and were defeated 29 – 41. Co-captain guard Danielle Bush had 12 points, while freshman center Carolyn Pushaw contributed strong rebounding.

“Perhaps the girls had too many Christmas cookies!” Head Coach Andy Meyer said.

The lady Sharks will return to their home court for their first league game against Carpinteria after Winter Break.
