Public Safety Manager Susan Dueñas on Monday announced the city would soon have a new evacuation plan utilizing zones to more effectively manage traffic in case of a future disaster.
“We formalized the concept of evacuation zones,” Dueñas described. “The zones are going to be based on the historical burn corridors, so one will be around Topanga, one around Malibu Canyon, one around Kanan and one around Decker… the four zones that [the] fire department has agreed they’re going to be doing.”
The evacuation plan was still being developed, according to the public safety manager, but would continue to move forward in coordination with various other agencies.
