Under the starlit sky, guests joined Surfrider Foundation for the Malibu edition of “Two Coasts: One Ocean” — a fundraiser at the Point Dume home of Sarah and Rob Wells. The “Two Coasts: One Ocean” events took place in both Montauk, N.Y. and Malibu to support the effort that Surfrider Foundation makes to preserve oceans and protect beaches on both coasts.

“Our story began in Malibu when a handful of surfers fought to protect their favorite surf spot, so it was only natural for us to host our inaugural annual event there,” Dr. Chad Nelsen, Surfrider CEO, said. “Malibu and Los Angeles are faced with coastal pollution challenges resulting from rapid growth, aging infrastructure and urban runoff. These are challenges that coastal communities across America are facing.”

As the sun set in the distance, DJ Keala Kennelly helped set the mood while attendees sipped on cocktails, dined on an array of fresh vegetables, dips, salsas, and guacamole, and checked out the silent auction items. The festivities continued with a Mexican fiesta banquet dinner, ranch style seating, a screening of the short film “We are Surfrider,” live auction and special guest performance by Portugal. The Man.

Surfrider Foundation’s “Two Coasts: One Ocean” events raised $356,000 to defend and protect the ocean and beaches across America.
