Once again, comments from the Federal Docket on the Environmental Impart Report (EIR) for Cabrillo Port are being taken out of context and misrepresented to sensationalize the environmental review process. There is nothing unusual or proprietary about the review that BHPB is currently undergoing.
The list of questions provided by the Coast Guard was in response to public comment and Coast Guard view of the draft EIR last year. BHP Billiton is in the process of providing a response to all of the questions raised by the Coast Guard and California State Lands Commission (CLSC) staff.
There will be many additional opportunities to provide public comment on the Final EIR later this year. We welcome any community input that makes Cabrillo Port a better project so that we can begin delivering much needed energy to California at the earliest possible date.
