On Oct. 22-23, locals and visitors alike gathered at Surfrider Beach for the 2015 Miss Malibu Pro surfing competition. This year’s event — which was sponsored by Body Glove, Cami and Jax, LaLa Surfboards Hawaii and more — was the second annual contest.
The two-day competition was filled with many events, including several rounds of surfing competitions, expression sessions, and dinner, drinks, and live music by Cat Clark & Piracy at Casa Escobar.
There was also a tandem exhibition, which featured sessions by Travis Long and Ahila Hoffman of Encinitas, Myra Burt and Charles Christensen of Malibu, and 67-year-old Barrie Boehne — considered by some to be the matriarch of tandem surfing — and previous world champion Steve Boehne.
Kathy Kohner Zuckerman (AKA Gidget), Allen Sarlo, Jeff Ho and others all made special appearances at the contest.
Soleil Errico was named the 2015 Miss Malibu Pro champion.
