Despite producing a viral Youtube video asking singer Joe Jonas to be her date to a sorority formal, Pepperdine senior Shaina Kohli was rejected by the lead singer of the Jonas Brothers this week.
But her efforts weren’t entirely in vain. Jonas produced a video of his own, asking Kohli to attend the band’s July 10 concert in Chicago since he wouldn’t be able to make it to Malibu on Saturday night for her sorority’s event. In the video, Jonas channels the Ricky Bobby character from the Will Ferrell movie “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” as the song “Careless Whisper” plays in the background.Â
And to sweeten the deal a little more, Jonas surprised Kohli in person while she was being interviewed on NBC’s “Today” show Thursday and reiterated his request that she be his date to the July 10 opening night of the Jo-Bros tour.Â
“We’ll flip it a little bit, you go with me to the opening night of the concert on July 10,” he said.
Kohli accepted Jonas’ offer.Â
