The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in the city of Malibu on Friday evening, from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m. Saturday morning.
Checkpoint locations are not disclosed beforehand.
The checkpoints are designed to prevent drug- and alcohol-related incidents.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, “The deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes.”
Penalties for drivers caught driving impaired range from fines, fees, DUI classes, insurance increases and jail.
