Tribute: Leon Cooper’s verbal and written condemnation of our military, which led our forces to unbelievable details and to shattered lives.
Of course, these men were just cannon fodder. Send us more fodder!
Head on charges into heavy fire was great strategy—think Normandy, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq. “I will return” by Dugout Doug MacArthur and “Old Blood and Guts” General Patton led such charges. Ernie Pyle and Bill Mauldin with his sad sacks, Willie and Joe had it right. Leon and I would discuss over and over the antiquated military system we had. Leon, you did your duty heroically. Thanks, Leon.
