Pepperdine University senior Kevin Maeda, a cross-country and track athlete, was honored with the 2018 West Coast Conference (WCC) #WCCREPRESENT award for male athletes at a ceremony last week. According to Pepperdine Athletics, the award is given to a student athlete based on “outstanding representation of the conference, institution, team and self, with exceptional value-based leadership and character.”
Maeda, who has been a four-year member of Waves’ cross country and track team, served in various positions on the Waves Leadership Council. He was part of a WCC student-athlete advisory committee.
He holds the record for the second fastest-10K time in the university’s cross country history as well as the second fastest 5,000-meter time in its track history.
