The reopening of the California Incline in Santa Monica has been delayed until the end of the summer. City officials announced that the new date will be declared at the end of July. It was reported that construction crews need more time to complete the pedestrian crossing which connects Pacific Palisades Park to the beach.
The incline and bridge are being rebuilt so that structures are up to date with current earthquake codes. The bridge will also be made wider and will boast an improved bike path.
The 86-year-old incline is an icon of Southern California and has appeared in multiple films and photography projects over its long history.
