Team Malibu finished fifth in the Bronze Division of the Junior Olympics for water polo. The team, coached by Hayden Goldberg, was seeded 20th out of 24 teams entering the competition.

At the Junior Olympics, Team Malibu suffered two losses on its first day. After regrouping, the local team went on a four-game winning streak, beating a team from San Diego, two teams from Sacramento and a team from Texas. At that point, Team Malibu needed one more win to make it into the semifinals. However, the team lost the next match to Coronado, which ended up going to the finals and winning the Gold Medal in the division. The local team then prepared to compete for the fifth or sixth place spot. Malibu handily won that match against San Diego Shores.

Throughout the Junior Olympics, Team Malibu played hard during the four-day period, scoring 60 goals their last six games on their way to the fifth-place finish.
