Sheriff's deputies on horseback comb the Malibu Creek State Park area for clues.

Deputies were seen searching the Malibu Creek State Park area with air and ground patrol last Wednesday, Oct. 17, for clues following the arrest of the Malibu Canyon burglar.

The burglar, 42-year-old Anthony Rauda, was arrested on Oct. 10 for multiple burglaries made over a three-month period. At a press conference on the same day, LASD Sheriff Jim McDonnell mentioned Rauda may be connected to more burglaries in the area over the last two years.

It was not confirmed whether or not the burglar was a suspect in the death of Tristan Beaudette, who was murdered while camping at MCSP on June 22, though speculation has abounded.

“Homicide is working closely with the rest of the team,” McDonnell said at the press conference.

In a comment to Calabasas Patch, LASD Deputy Kimberly Alexander said personnel was at the park to look for “anything related to the burglary investigation.”

According to other reports, the sheriff’s department confirmed there were two separate investigations going on at the moment in relation to the Malibu Canyon/MCSP area.
