The Malibu Times Publisher Arnold G. York celebrated his 80th birthday last week with a celebration at the newspaper offices including friends, staff and contributors past and present. The party included a lunch catered by Monrose Catering, toasts, gifts and a cake decorated to look like the first cover of The Malibu Times, from May 1946, much to the delight of partygoers. Last year, the newspaper published its 70th year of publication.
York, a longtime Malibu resident, and his wife, Karen Portugal York, have owned and published the newspaper since 1987.
