As a voter who has long supported Malibu schools and have the highest respect for teachers and students alike, I cannot support Issue EE for it is fraught with problems and questions. Will this money be administered by fat cat school officials sitting in leather chairs situated in their elegantly appointed offices in Santa Monica? Will they again go for the easy answers and not the difficult ones? How much of this money will trickle down to the classrooms where it is needed most? Are we going to be buying even more computers, more hardware, more stuff when there is a glut of that everywhere? We in Malibu have excellent teachers and are blessed with wonderful principals, I suggest if you care for our schools, our classrooms, our students, to take out your check book and write a generous check. Specifically the amount EE would tax you (around $300 a year). Now send it directly to one of those principals. Yes, publicly they will toe the line in supporting EE. Privately they will be thanking you for your support. EE sends our money to Santa Monica, little comes back to us.
