Pepperdine swimming performs well at conference championships

The Pepperdine University women's swimming team placed second out of 14 teams at the Pacific Swimming and Diving Championships in Long Beach.

The Pepperdine University swimming team had its all-time best performance at this month’s Pacific Swimming and Diving Championships in Long Beach. The squad finished second out of 14 teams at the four-day meet, scoring 1166 points. The winner was Loyola Marymount with 1212 points.

The team was lead by senior Ali McLeod, who won the 100-yard butterfly with an NCAA Championship’s qualifying time of 54.70 seconds. She was named Division I Swimmer of the Meet and PCSC Swimmer of the Year. McLeod will compete at the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio next month.

Twenty-three personal best times were achieved at the meet. McLeod broke the school record in the 100-yard butterfly and sophomore Dani Kimmel set a new school mark with a 1:05.24 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
