After fueling up at the pancake breakfast, OLM School’s sixth-grade teacher Miss Hanna Mehring and eighth-grade teacher Miss Savannah Armour head off to prepare lessons for their students.

Students, parishioners, family and members of the community gathered on Sunday morning at Our Lady of Malibu (OLM) School for a pancake breakfast fundraiser.

Spirits were not dampened by stormy weather as eighth-grade students served up a variety of breakfast fare at Sheridan Hall. Attendees dined on fresh-off-the-griddle hotcakes covered in steamy maple syrup, sausages, mixed fruit, coffee and juices.

Miss Savannah Armour’s eighth-grade class, along with parent volunteers and eighth-grade student buddies, worked together all morning to serve up an all-you-can-eat meal.

“I am impressed by the OLM community,” Armour shared. “Seeing the students work so hard and the members of the parish come to support the kids strengthens my own faith and makes me grateful that I can be a part of such a wonderful community.”

Funds raised at the breakfast will go toward the eighth-grade students’ annual trip to Washington, D.C.

“I think it’s really special that the eighth-grade class can all go together and learn about American history, especially because that’s what we’ve been leading about In class,” OLM School student Bailee Calabria said. “It’s really a great opportunity to see all of these amazing things that happened so long ago.”
