The Los Angeles County Fire Department released a strategic plan on Friday addressing the department’s goals and priorities in wanting to provide more effective responses and services. According to the report, LACFD “will be a multi-faceted global leader in public safety services” by 2020.
Among many long-term ambitions, the 51-page report sets goals for preventing injury and illness, stabilizing the department’s finances, generating more revenue, streamlining services via new technology, forming better communication with the communities served and creating more alliances with local public, private and non-profit organizations.
County fire services in Malibu and other contracted cities are funded partially through property taxes.
