Our beloved community suffered another body blow when our new top cop, Alex Villanueva, removed Lieutenant James Royal from our midst this week in a major post-election shuffle.
Lt. Royal stood out for his lowkey decency, integrity and intelligence. It was James Royal who removed his uniform and changed to civilian clothes so he could fight the fire.
This seems to be an instance of “no good deed goes unpunished.”
Please write Sheriff Villanueva and ask that Lt. Royal be transferred back to Malibu.
