Pepperdine alum Michael Beard is returning to the university to coach the men’s golf team.

Former Pepperdine University All-American Michael Beard is returning to the school to serve as the new coach of the men’s golf team. He spent the last season and a half at Arizona State University before coming back to Pepperdine.

Beard competed for the Waves from 1999 until 2002, earning Golf Coaches Association of America All-American honorable mention status in 2000 and 2002. He played professionally for several years after graduation and then transitioned into coaching. He served as assistant coach at Pepperdine from 2010-2011 before becoming an assistant at Arizona State and has now returned to coach the Waves.

“I am extremely excited to be returning to Pepperdine as head coach,” Beard said. “It’s a privilege to coach at a university that has had such an impact on my life and the lives of many others. I am grateful for this opportunity at such a special place.”
