The Malibu Optimist Club hosted an awards program for its annual Essay Contest during its weekly breakfast meeting at Pepperdine University. The contest accepts entries from local students.
Malibu High School student Carl Putterman won this year’s gold medal and a $150 prize for his essay titled “Lead by Example: Reality or Fiction?” Jade Soufer took the silver medal, and Lily Castro took the bronze.
