President Obama to visit Santa Monica Friday

With a visit to Los Angeles scheduled for Friday, June 7, President Barack Obama’s agenda is likely to cause traffic headaches for many Westside commuters.

The President will attend a fundraiser at Peter Chernin’s home in Santa Monica after arriving at LAX from San Jose Friday morning. Chernin is the CEO and chairman of The Chermin Group, which produces Fox’s New Girl.

The LAPD issued traffic advisories for the following areas:

-Area around Centinela Avenue and West Olympic Boulevard from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and between the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

-Area around West Olympic Boulevard and Cloverfield Boulevard from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and between the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

-Area around 26th Street and San Vicente from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and between the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Although Santa Monica High School seniors invited Obama to speak at Samohi’s 100th graduation, he is scheduled to leave for Palm Springs from LAX Friday afternoon.

Obama will spend Friday and Saturday in Palm Springs with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
