Dr. David Pepper performs research on “laser ultrasonics,” a technology used to probe materials ultrasonically without physically contacting or damaging the sample, using only laser beams to create and detect the ultrasound.

Dr. David M. Pepper has recently been issued his 63rd US patent, his fourth this year. The U.S. patent office has ranked Pepper in the 99.7th percentile of all inventors. He was a laser physicist and research scientist at HRL Laboratories during his 31-year career and is currently a technical consultant. In the past, he was also an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University, teaching calculus as well as probability and linear algebra to undergraduate students majoring in business or economics. He resides in Malibu with his wife, Denise, and their three rescue dogs: Lucy, Lottie and Shlomo Hercules.
