Ruth Huyler Glass has recently been announced as the head of Calmont School. Glass, a Pacific Palisades resident for the past 10 years, has more than 30 years of experience in education administration.
In a press release she said that the school’s location on 22 acres in the mountains of Malibu Canyon reminded her of her childhood in Ojai, and was a key component in her decision to accept the position.
Students hike in the mountains on a weekly basis and have many opportunities to integrate their classroom activities with their environment.
As stated in the press release, Glass was involved with reducing the tuition for the 2010-2011 school year to $15,000, which “allows more families the opportunity of a Calmont education for their children, and also acknowledges the difficult economic circumstances we have all experienced.”
Calmont School is an independent nonprofit school offering kindergarten through eighth grade.
