The Malibu GU-12 extra soccer team earned second place in the Strawberry Fest Tournament last weekend. The team lost by one point in double overtime. Next, the girls go on to play in the Top-Gun Tournament in San Diego.
The Strawberry Cup is one of the largest tournaments in California.
The Malibu girls beat teams from Woodland Hills, Santa Barbara and Camarillo before heading to the championship game against Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys.
“What an exciting tournament the girls put together,” coach William Buckley said. “The training and the comfort the team has worked so hard for allows them to excel against top competition. Every game is tough but they have confidence and the belief of true champions.”
