The Malibu High School varsity lacrosse team played against Thacher last Thursday at home. MHS fell to Thacher, 9-4, but Coach Mark DeOliveira praised the team’s defensive efforts.
“The defense played a very impressive game,” DeOliveira explained. “Our offense was struggling and the score could have gotten out of hand early, but with our goalie and defensemen holding their ground, we were able to stay close to Thacher throughout.”
Senior defender Ethan Krase suffered a shoulder injury in the first quarter, but he was able to finish the game, returning in the second quarter. Senior midfielder Noah Gorelick stepped up and played defense after Krase’s first quarter injury.
William Tosedevin, also a senior defender, had one of his best individual performances, notably taking the ball away from Thacher’s attack men and clearing the ball effectively.
Junior goalie Kami Eshai completed several saves, keeping MHS in the game throughout the contest.
