TEA AND SYMPATHY

One of Malibu’s favorite causes marked a milestone. The City Hearts organization turned 20 last month. The group celebrated with a ritzy high-tea and fashion show at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. Sure, it was Super Bowl Sunday, but who needs pigskin when you’ve got fabulous frocks, cute cucumber sandwiches and celebrity models?

Even Mistress of Ceremonies Jane Seymour couldn’t resist taking a turn on the catwalk. The Medicine Woman had just the cure for the winter-wear blahs. Jane was one sexy siren, sporting a sleek red satin gown worthy of Jessica Rabbit. Malibu pal Olivia Newton-John joined Seymour and Sharon Lawrence for the stylish shindig, along with Deborah Raffin, Anne Turkel, Eva Longoria, Amy Pietz and Brooke Langton.

They got a sneak peak at the sexy spring things by designers like Escada, Mon Atelier, Le Full, Tellini and LuLu Guiness.

City Hearts President Hayley Miller thanked past prez Liane Weintraub for her six years of hard work on behalf of the organization. In addition to words of praise, Hayley presented LW with a delicious Judith Ripka gold and diamond heart-shaped bracelet. Now that’s what I call a token of appreciation!

Hot auction items included fun flings to Cabo, La Qunita and the Windy City as well as diamond baubles and glitzy cocktail bags.

The event raised more than $35,000 for City Hearts programs. The organization and its many volunteers help more than 1,500 at-risk kids in Los Angeles and Ventura counties every year, providing them with valuable arts education programs free of charge. The tea was just a warm up of delectable things to come. The big City Hearts fundraiser takes place later this year when Seymour and hubby James Keach open their Malibu home to host the annual City Hearts Caviar and White Truffle Dinner.

HOORAY FOR HANNIBAL!

Speaking of food, one of our favorite local carnivores, Sir Anthony Hopkins, will be the toast of this year’s Caritas Awards Gala. Loveable Mister Lecter is being honored by Saint John’s Health Center for a lifetime of impressive accomplishments. Previous honorees include Malibu’s Martin Sheen.

The black-tie affair will take place at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. Proceeds will benefit Saint John’s community services and support programs. Dinner is served on May 21. Pass the fava beans. Chianti anyone?
