Yakhouba Diawara, who played basketball for Pepperdine University in 2003-04 and 2004-05, has been named to France’s Olympic basketball team. The French Federation announced that Diawara would replace Charles Kahudi on the 12-man roster that will compete in the 2012 Olympics.
France begins Olympic play on July 29 against the United States. Diawara will be playing alongside NBA players including Tony Parker, Nicolas Batum, Boris Diaw and Ronny Turiaf. Diawara played four seasons in the NBA, two with the Denver Nuggets and two with the Miami Heat. Most recently he has played professionally in Italy.
