As moderator of the recent City Council candidates forum hosted by the Malibu Township Council, I am writing to correct an error in your reporting of the event in last week’s paper. The question regarding the behavior of the present City Council when responding to public speakers was not asked by the Malibu Township Council, but by a member of the audience present at the event. As moderator, I announced that the second half of the program, (the “town hall” section), would be devoted solely to questions submitted by audience members, which was when this question was asked.
Your reporter then submitted this erroneous information to two City Council members for comment. Their responses would have been considerably different had they known that the question came from a member of the public, not the MTC.
