A two-acre brush fire burning off Malibu Canyon Road after a car caught fire was knocked down within an hour, but caused major traffic backups for much of Wednesday evening.
The fire was reported at 4:38 p.m., quickly spreading to two acres. Westbound Mulholland Highway was closed indefinitely at Las Virgines Road and also at Cornell Road until 8:55 p.m., according to a CHP dispatcher.
CBS Los Angeles reported the car overturned on the side of the road and sparked a grass fire. The driver managed to get out of the car. Two SuperScoopers and four helicopters were on the scene, and there were no injuries or structures threatened.
