Analysis by the Los Angeles Times shows that Malibu went heavily for democratic gubernatorial Gavin Newsom in this week’s elections.
Except for one precinct … which went heavily for Republican John Cox.
That precinct … the Pepperdine University campus.
A reminder of the political conservatism of the university that is part of malibu … but clearly not a part of Malibu.
The rest of Malibu … solidly democratic … solid Newsom country.

In one election race that sort of snuck by us … a suspect in the Santa Monica Malibu School District fraud case won one of two runoff spots in the race for the State Board of Equalization.

In the the news from down the coast … scooters may get regulated by the city of Santa Monica.
Two companies have flooded the streets there with thousands of electric scooters that can be hired for a dollar for 15 minutes.
This has resulted in sidewalks swarming with park scooters and sidewalks buzzing was scooters zipping through pedestrians.
Several scooter riders have been injured while running stop signs or riding the wrong way on a street.
Santa Monica is proposing new rules to limit the number of scooters and electric bicycles in the city.
A cap of at 1,500 split between up to three companies is proposed.
Santa Monica cops have conducted 809 scooter stops and wrote 366 scooter tickets in the month of May.

Today is the annual Malibu blood drive.
Starting at 10 this morning … the city and the American Red Cross will be holding the blod drive at city hall.
