21 Arrests Made at Weekend Checkpoint

Authorities made 21 arrests, including one for DUI, on Friday during a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in Malibu.

The checkpoint was set up on Pacific Coast Highway and Webb Way from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., during which the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department checked 1,544 drivers out of 1,691 total vehicles that passed through.

Aside from the one DUI arrest, four were arrested on outstanding warrants, and six suspended/revoked drivers and 10 unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court. 

Statistics:

– 1,691 vehicles through checkpoint

– 1544 drivers checked at checkpoint

– 1 DUI alcohol suspect arrested

– 2 suspects arrested and booked for $30,000 traffic warrants and sent to court

– 1 suspect arrested for a $15,000 traffic warrant and sent to court

– 1 suspect arrested and booked for a felony narcotic warrant and sent to court

– 6 suspended / revoked drivers arrested and sent to court

– 10 unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court

– 3 vehicles stored for 1 day

– 5 vehicles impounded for 30 days

– 8 vehicles released per checkpoint release procedures
