Friends and family of Emily Shane planted flowers and a tree to memorialize the site on Pacific Coast Highway where the Malibu teen was struck and killed by a reckless driver almost five years ago. The beautification project was led by Emily’s friend Raven Odian, and included purple plants and flowers in honor of Emily’s favorite color.

The Emily Shane Foundation was formed by Emily’s mother Ellen, to pay tribute to her daughter through community efforts of random acts of kindness and mentorships, with a Foundation motto of “Pass It Forward.”

The Foundation is also currently participating in a contest through KIND snacks in which a nonprofit will win $10,000. The organization with the most votes on Feb. 28 will receive the money to help further their cause. For more information or to vote, visit causes.kindsnacks.com/cause/the-emily-shane-foundation.
