Hurry over to the Malibu Colony Plaza before next week if you want to get one more breakfast before Coogies temporarily closes for renovations.

Coogies Beach Café will be closed down for approximately one month beginning early next week, General Manager Kaya Ramos confirmed to The Malibu Times today.

The restaurant, which has been a popular dining spot in Malibu since it first opened in 1997, recently received a permit to sell alcohol and will be closing to renovate and install a full bar.

Rumors that Coogie’s would be permanently closing down or moving locations worried fans of the casual dining spot back in March, after the online coupon website Groupon sent out notices that “Coogie’s (sic) Beach Café will be moving at the end of April.”

It is now clear that those fears are unfounded, and Coogies should be open again for the start of summer.
