The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for Malibu that remains in effect until five p.m. Friday. The advisory’s predicts waves between five and eight feet. The advisory also states that “a very long period of southwest swell will create a high risk for rip currents at area beaches.” Beachgoers are advised to take precautions when swimming.
Malibu resident Kim Devore, a writer for The Malibu Times, has lived on on the shore above the water for twenty years.
“The water is rattling the windows in my house,” Devore said. “I’ve never seen it this high. I’m think about staying at a friend’s house tonight.”
