Locals Jo Giese and her husband, Ed Warren, recently visited Malibu’s unofficial sister city, Lijiang, in China. The pair enjoyed visited many sites around the city, including the Black Dragon Pool, as well as locals living in the surrounding villages. Giese said she found the city, which is known as the “garden city,” to be “gorgeous, spectacularly impressive.”
While Lijiang is not Malibu’s official sister city, the two cities are engaging in cultural exchanges that may one day include sister city status. The Malibu Chamber of Commerce and the Chinese city currently share a partnership.
