I’m very proud that Vintage Grocers—our local grocery store—stepped up in a big way for Malibu by being the main sponsor of the 38th Annual Chili Cook-Off this year, sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu.

Vintage Grocers’ owner had such a fun time at the Cook Off last year, she decided she wanted Vintage Grocers to go “all in” this year—and they certainly did! Did you see how beautiful their tent was—solidly constructed, with beautiful wood paneling and comfortable seating?

All the locals flocked there to re-charge their phones, relax on the sofas, get free, cold and refreshing non alcoholic drinks, and eat at the amazing “judges’ table” and the place had great energy. I have been told by many attending and I totally agree that this Vintage Grocers tent has made this event go to an all new level!

The Vintage Grocers’ tent staff, my team of judges and volunteers brought tremendous enthusiasm and authenticity. As head judge and working all weekend with them was by far the highlight of my Chili Cook-Off weekend!

Congratulations to all chili contestants—in my book, you are all winners! Most chili vendors made around 100 gallons of chili for the event.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Kasey Earnest, head of Boys & Girls Club of Malibu and her professional Molly Scott and their teams for making this year the best Chili Cook-Off ever, in my opinion.

It was great to see better security. Gravel was key to keeping the dust away, which was awesome. I have been told by many friends that they felt the layout was way better with rides on one side, vendors on the other and a giant beer/wine garden.
