The California Lyme Disease Association sponsored legislation Assembly Bill 1091 that was just passed as an urgency bill. AB 1091 allows for infectious diseases to be reportable by laboratory. One of the co-authors of the bill was Malibu’s Assemblywoman Fran Pavley.

Enclosed is the letter from the California Lyme Disease Association’s legislative advocate Herb Dorken of Penn Valley:

With the enactment of AB 1091, I sent an e-mail to Mark Starr at Dept. of Health Services reminding him of our informal agreement that lyme disease would be made laboratory reportable on passage of our legislation. On Aug. 31 he responded, “That process has already been put into motion. “Thanks for all your effort on this bill!”
