Several Malibu residents attended the American Youth Symphony’s 43rd annual Benefit Gala on March 23 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The event honored composer John Williams, who conducted the concert of his compositions from various movies. A dinner followed in the Grand Hall of the pavilion.
Among the local attendees were AYS President David Newman and his wife, Krystyna. David Newman composes music for films and Krystyna Newman is a fourth-generation violnist. The Malibu Times proofreader Margo Neal also attended the gala with her husband, LaVern Schenkelberg.
