Fourth-graders from Point Dume Marine Science School embarked on the annual three-day field drip to Sacramento May 22-24 to learn all about the state’s capitol. Students camped at Coloma Campgrounds and visited Sutter Mill, where gold was first discovered in 1848, and learned how to pan for gold. In Sacramento, they visited the Capitol building, the California State Railroad Museum and other historic California sites.
