Letter: Lack of Civility

Letter to the Editor

I picked up a copy of your Feb. 14 edition that had, for some odd reason, been delivered in a pile to Santa Monica. I was amazed at the opinion page, the op-ed and the “letters to the editor.” It wasn’t what was in those pieces, but what was lacking—civility, facts and coherent thinking! For the most part, the opinions read like nine-year-olds calling each other names. And, as far as I can tell from having been published in the L.A. Times, despite what your op-ed writer claimed, I don’t think the L.A. Times “invites submissions” to its opinion section. They certainly would not have printed this one.

Come on—Malibu has lots of smart and creative people with opinions. Don’t they write to, or for, your paper? Where are they?
