The Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and its sister organization the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority on Monday released the final version of their controversial Malibu parks modification plan. Known as the Malibu Parks Public Access Enhancement Plan, the project calls for more than 70 overnight camping sites at local parks and various other modifications. The plan can be viewed at www.mrca.ca.gov and www.smmc.ca.gov.

City officials, who oppose the project, will host a workshop this week on Wednesday at City Hall at 6 p.m. The SMMC and MRCA hearing on the project will take place at Temescal Gateway Park in Pacific Palisades on Monday at 5 p.m. Look for coverage of both sessions online at www.malibutimes.com and in next week’s print edition of the newspaper.
