After two days of huge traffic jams … Caltrans says it will work at night instead of during the day at Latigo Beach.

Motorcycle rally organizers are preparing a response to the sheriff and city … about their plans to block P C H in September.

And longtime Malibu resident Glen Campbell dies … did you know he was a former Beach Boy??

This is Malibu’s only local daily news.

It’s the Wednesday edition … from Radio Malibu  …. 97 point 5 K B U.

Good morning Malibu!

——

Caltrans has agreed to reschedule road work in the Latigo Beach area … to put an end to massive traffic jams that have occurred over the past two days.

Contractors working for the state have … for two days … been working on P C H … at Latigo Beach.

Huge traffic jams have ensued … stretching all the way to Bluff Park.

At one point … delays approached one hour … as the state contractors removed rocks and gravel that has fallen off of a cliff near Corral Canyon Road.

Malibu city manager Reva Feldman says Caltrans did not inform the city about the planned lane closures … and she said the state has an agreement with the city not to conduct routine maintenance during daytime hours in the summer season.

Caltrans officials pulled the work crews off the job yesterday in the early afternoon.

The work has been rescheduled for 9 p-m to 4 a-m …

Organizer of a motorcycle rally say they are preparing a formal response to a city report … that accuses the rally of illegally seizing control of Pacific Coast Highway.

The Ride To the Flags event has been run for three  years now … a big motorcycle rally from Ventura County down to Bluffs park in Malibu …

It’s billed a an honor to the flags flown at Pepperdine University twice a year … at memorial day and in the fall.

Last year … the group had motorcycle escorts from a funeral procession escort company …

The motorcade has gotten large … too big for the LA County Sheriffs Department,.

Last year …. bikers took 15 minutes to clear each intersection from Trancas down to Bluffs.

It took hours to sort out traffic at P C H at Malibu Canyon Road … and there was a crash there in all the confusion.

The city says the Bluffs Park party has resulted in all sorts of problems.

Run To the Flags organizer Ryan Sawtelle says a written response to the sheriff and city staff is being written …

And he referred a reporter to that.

The permit request to use Bluffs Park goes before the city council Monday.

But the sheriff has already said no … the riders cannot block P C H and will have to ride with the rules … and obey all traffic signal rules.
